The Unseen Side of Weight Loss Wonders A large new study has linked GLP 1 receptor agonists, commonly used to manage type 2 diabetes and obesity, to an increased risk of alopecia among patients.
Researchers analyzed electronic health records from the University of Pennsylvania Health System (Penn Medicine) and compared alopecia rates among adults with type 2 diabetes who began treatment with these medications.
The study found that GLP 1 users had a significantly higher rate of alopecia, particularly non scarring alopecia, which may be reversible.
