Strikes at Bushehr: A Nuclear Conundrum in the Middle East

Satellite images have revealed new damage inside Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant complex following a wave of US strikes during renewed military escalation between Washington and Tehran. In 2026, multiple projectile incidents were reported near the Bushehr plant, including three instances in March where projectiles struck inside the premises. Iran’s deputy governor initially stated that several locations across the province had been struck – including areas surrounding the Bushehr nuclear power plant – but later denied reports that the plant itself was hit.
